Five teenagers are dead after being found in a submerged car due to a crash.
Fort Myers Police said the single-vehicle car crash happened along Top Golf Way late Sunday night. Police said the car was submerged in a retention pond. A spokesperson from the Fort Myers Police Department said they believe the teens lost control of the black Kia sedan they were in before crashing into the retention pond.
All five victims, identified as Eric Paul, 19, Jackson Eyre, 18, Amanda Ferguson, 18, Breanna Coleman, 18, and Jesus Salinas, 18, were pronounced dead on the scene.
Officials responded to the crash just after 4 am, early Monday morning. Police said they received phone calls from the parents that their children had yet to come home from work at Texas Roadhouse, a half mile from the car crash.
The four teens who worked at Texas Roadhouse were recent high school graduates.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
