Pinehurst police shooting during house fire<\/h2>\n

A man was fatally shot by Pinehurst<\/strong><\/em><\/a> police officers on Wednesday<\/em> morning while responding to a house fire on Remington Lane<\/em><\/a> in the Village Acres<\/em> neighborhood. The shooting unfolded around 7:45 a.m. when officers were dispatched following reports of a suspicious individual in the area.<\/span><\/p>\n

Upon arrival, law enforcement observed smoke coming from a residence and requested the fire department, as reported by ABC 11<\/em>. However, as firefighters worked to control the fire, a man came from the home wielding an ax and aggressively charged toward both fire and police personnel.<\/span><\/p>\n

Officers attempted to neutralize the threat using non-lethal methods, but their efforts were unsuccessful. As the man continued to advance, two officers discharged their firearms, striking him. Emergency medical services transported the individual to a nearby medical facility, where he was later pronounced dead.<\/span><\/p>\n

Authorities have not yet released the deceased’s identity, pending notification of next of kin. No injuries were reported among law enforcement or fire department personnel involved in the incident.<\/span><\/p>\n
