Cecil Antonio Brockman<\/span><\/span><\/a>,<\/strong><\/em> a Democratic member of the North Carolin<\/a>a House of Representatives<\/span><\/span><\/em>, was arrested Wednesday and charged with multiple sex offenses involving a 15-year-old minor, according to court and sheriff\u2019s office records.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cecil Antonio Brockman, a Democratic lawmaker from Guilford County, faces statutory rape and indecent liberties charges.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

According to the arrest warrant, Brockman<\/em> \u201cengaged in a sexual act\u201d<\/em> with a 15-year-old on August 15 of this year.<\/span><\/p>\n

He\u2019s facing four felony charges:<\/span><\/p>\n

    2 counts of statutory rape of a minor aged 13\u201315<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    2 counts of indecent liberties with a child<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Court records also reveal that a magistrate denied bond, citing concerns that Brockman<\/em> has \u201caccess to resources that could facilitate flight.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

    The warrant further alleges that he tried to locate the juvenile in the hospital and used his political status to gain sensitive information about the victim\u2019s whereabouts.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Brockman<\/em> is currently booked into the High Point Detention Center <\/em>and is expected to make his first court appearance Thursday.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Brockman<\/em> has represented House District 60 \u2014 covering parts of Guilford County, North Carolina<\/span><\/span><\/em>, including High Point, North Carolina<\/span><\/span><\/em> \u2014 since 2015.<\/span><\/p>\n

    While a Democrat, he\u2019s known for occasionally breaking with party leadership on key votes, which has caused friction inside the caucus. <\/span><\/p>\n
