Authorities have now confirmed that some remains of 4-year-old Javeayah Harris<\/strong> were recovered from Cedar Creek Reservoir (also known as Stumpy Pond) in Fairfield County, South Carolina<\/a><\/strong>, after her own parents allegedly used corrosive chemicals and tools to dissolve her body.<\/span><\/p>\n

Aiken County<\/a> Sheriff Marty Sawyer<\/strong> gave the disturbing update during a July 9 press conference, calling the parents\u2019 actions \u201crepulsive and revolting.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Parents Hit With New Charges for Destroying Their Daughter\u2019s Body<\/h3>\n

Michilae Herring<\/strong>, 22, and Johmarea Harris<\/strong>, 23 \u2014 Javeayah\u2019s mother and father \u2014 were already behind bars on homicide by child abuse<\/strong> charges. Both were denied bond.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now they\u2019re facing charges of destruction and desecration of human remains<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to arrest warrants, both parents confessed<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The documents allege Herring physically abused the little girl, causing a head injury. Instead of getting her medical help, the parents allegedly let her die \u2014 and then went to extreme lengths to cover it up.<\/span><\/p>\n

Investigators believe Javeayah had already been dead for about a month<\/strong> before her mother called 911 on June 30, 2026, pretending she was missing.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the 911 call, Herring <\/strong>claimed her daughter\u00a0 disappeared while playing outside their Aiken home near Hillsboro Street and Ridgecrest Road. She said Javeayah was wearing pink Minnie Mouse pajamas with pink braids.<\/span><\/p>\n

A massive multi-agency search involving the FBI and SLED was launched.<\/span><\/p>\n

On July 4, 2026,\u00a0Sheriff Marty Sawyer announced that Javeayah was believed to be dead. Herring and Harris were arrested and charged with homicide by child abuse.<\/span><\/p>\n
