Judge Charles Casey Viser Re-Arrested

The gavel has officially turned on former Mecklenburg County Superior Court Judge Charles Casey Viser, who clearly thinks courtroom appearances are optional.

The 53-year-old ex-judge, once respected on the bench, was re-arrested on May 27 after blowing off a mandatory court date related to felony cocaine charges. Viser, who was originally arrested during an April traffic stop, failed to show up to court on May 2, triggering a warrant for his arrest and a bond forfeiture.

Judge Charles Casey Viser, once a Superior Court judge in Mecklenburg County, was re-arrested in May 2025 after missing a court date tied to felony cocaine charges stemming from an April traffic stop in Charlotte.

On April 14, Charlotte police pulled over Viser’s trap house on wheels and reportedly found cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and an open container of alcohol inside his Mercedes SUV.

He was charged with felony cocaine possession and possession of drug paraphernalia, and released on a mere $2,500 bond.

But when court day came, Judge No-Show was nowhere to be found. That no-show cost him—his bond was revoked, and the birthday boy was re-arrested just one day after turning 53. He posted a new bond of $5,000 and walked out the same day.

Viser, appointed to the bench by former Governor Pat McCrory in 2013 and again in 2015, was elected in 2020 but abruptly resigned in 2022. Since then, he’s been practicing privately—though clearly not too privately, given this arrest record.
