A Cary woman has been arrested and charged with felony animal cruelty after allegedly killing six guinea pigs, according to police warrants.
Court documents obtained by The North Carolina Beat reveal that Jeronica Bragail Rogers, 43, was taken into custody on Wednesday, February 12, and charged with felony cruelty to animals. The police warrant states that Rogers “maliciously killed or caused or procured to be killed” six guinea pigs by intentionally depriving them of necessary sustenance.
The date of offense is listed on the warrant as Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2025, and details the guinea pigs’ descriptions, noting that four were adults and two were juveniles. Authorities did not disclose further details regarding the circumstances of the alleged abuse.
Following her arrest, Rogers was issued a $10,000 secured bond. She is scheduled to make her first court appearance in Wake County Court on Thursday, February 13.
