A Hickory house party mass shooting left one person dead and 11 others injured. The horrifying event took place at a residence in Hickory, North Carolina, a city nestled in Catawba County, about 60 miles northwest of Charlotte.
Around 12:45 a.m., law enforcement responded to urgent reports of gunfire at a crowded house party. Upon arrival, officers discovered a total of 12 victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Tragically, one individual was pronounced dead at the scene, while another remains in critical condition at a nearby hospital.
According to WSOC, investigators said about 100 people was at the party when one or multiple people started shooting.
The other victims were quickly transported to local medical facilities for treatment. Their conditions have not yet been fully disclosed.
The Hickory Police Department, in coordination with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, has opened a investigation into the mass shooting. Authorities have arrested 20-year-old Garon Killian, in the shooting.
The quiet, close-knit community of Hickory is grappling with the aftermath of this senseless violence.
