A Lexington, N.C., soul food restaurant is asking the public to help identify a woman who allegedly racked up $106 in food and left without paying the bill.
JJ’s Mama’s & Soulfood, located at 601 W 5th Avenue, posted surveillance video on Facebook Saturday evening showing the woman in question. According to the restaurant, the woman balled up a dine-in receipt at the register, then cleverly placed a to-go order to cover up the unpaid meal.
“They ate in. Went to the register to pay. Balled up the dine in order and ordered a to-go order to play it off,” the restaurant wrote in the post.
The footage has since circulated across social media, and JJ’s Mama’s & Soulfood is asking for help in identifying the woman in the video. The restaurant referred to the woman’s unpaid meal as an “outstanding ticket that requires payment.”

Management gave the woman until the following morning (Sunday, June 1) to settle the debt or risk having the authorities brought in.

This alleged dine-and-dash incident has sparked conversation online about small businesses being taken advantage of, especially in the restaurant industry, where every dollar counts.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the restaurant or message them directly on Facebook.
