North Carolina man arrested for allegedly beheading 2 dogs found on his front porch by neighbor who was returning runaway pup

Authorities in Davidson County, North Carolina have formally charged a man named Christopher Mullins with two felony counts of animal cruelty and 14 misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty, after a neighbor found two decapitated dogs on the suspect’s front porch over the weekend.

A concerned neighbor recounted that one of Mullins’ puppies, named Nugget, ran to her residence. Upon returning Nugget to Mullins’ property, the neighbor found the gruesome scene of two beheaded dogs, to which she called 911.

Sheriff Richie Simmons said the residence is located on the 200 block of 1st Circle off New Bowers Road, in Lexington. The police report indicates that 12 puppies were found to be diseased and had to be humanely euthanized. Animal Control had previously visited Mullins’ property on Friday in response to reports of animal mistreatment, but did not observe any criminal activity during the initial visit.

Upon revisiting the property less than a day later, law enforcement encountered the disturbing scene that led to Mullins’ arrest.

Currently, Mullins remains in custody at the Davidson County jail on a $500,000 secured bond.
