NYC Mayor Eric Adams hit with $5 million lawsuit after woman alleged he sexually assaulted her in 1993

Mayor Eric Adams is facing allegations of sexual assault dating back to 1993, as part of a lawsuit filed under New York’s Adult Survivors Act.

The summons was filed just before the law’s expiration, allowing accusers to sue their alleged abusers in civil court and seek monetary damages, regardless of when the abuse occurred.

The accuser, whose identity is being withheld, claims that Adams, a former NYPD officer, assaulted her while they both worked for the city of New York.

The lawsuit also accuses Adams, the NYPD, and other entities of battery, employment discrimination, retaliation, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

The plaintiff is seeking at least $5 million in damages. Adams has strongly denied the charges, stating that the alleged assault never happened and that he does not recall ever meeting the accuser.

This accusation comes at a challenging time for the mayor, as his campaign is under federal investigation related to illegal donations.
