Parents killed in North Carolina crash by a DWI driver, their child in critical condition

A tragic incident occurred in Garner, North Carolina, where an 8-year-old boy lost his parents in a fatal accident caused by a driver under the influence of alcohol.

The incident took place on Monday afternoon on US Business 70 at New Rand Road. The collision involved three vehicles – a silver Chevrolet Trailblazer, a dark blue Mazda CX5 Select, and a black Cadillac Escalade. The Trailblazer ran a red light while traveling west on US 70, hitting the Mazda that was heading south on New Rand Road.

The victims were identified as 28-year-old Tyler Campbell and his 29-year-old wife, Susan Campbell, who tragically lost their lives in the crash. Their son, 8-year-old Miles Campbell, survived but was critically injured and taken to the hospital.

The driver of the Trailblazer, 25-year-old Jordan Alexander Porter, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was also hospitalized. Porter was charged with driving while impaired, and further charges are anticipated.

The Escalade was slightly damaged, but the people inside were unharmed.

Drunk driver suspect has history of traffic violations

Porter seems to have a long-standing relationship with traffic violations, dating all the way back to 2015.

ABC 11 reported that on New Year’s Day 2018, he was charged wit drinking alcohol while under 21 and not staying in his lane. Back in June 2015, he was caught running a red light, a charge similar to the recent allegation made by the police. Additionally, court documents revealed that just last month he was ticketed for speeding 21 mph over the limit.
