WILMINGTON, N.C. — A bomb threat has been reported at Wilmington International Airport, after officials received a report of a potential explosive threat inside the airport terminal.

Airport authorities say the threat was reported at approximately 8:50 p.m.

Officials made the decision to evacuate the terminal as a precaution while investigators assess the situation. Passengers and staff were moved out of the building while authorities began securing the area.

The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office confirmed its bomb squad has been dispatched to the airport and is conducting a sweep of the terminal and surrounding areas to determine whether the threat is credible.

In a public statement shared online, airport officials emphasized that the evacuation was carried out strictly to protect travelers and staff while the situation is investigated.

Authorities have not yet said whether any suspicious items have been located, and investigators have not released details about who may have made the threat.

It is unclear at this time whether flights will be delayed or canceled while the investigation continues.

Officials say the situation remains active and under investigation.

This remains a developing story, and more details will be provided as they become available.
