Texts, video, and serious allegations surfaced—five months later the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office remains silent, and people are asking why.

WILSON COUNTY, N.C. — It’s been five long months since the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation on July 18, 2025, into explosive allegations that Ebony Nicolle Robinson allegedly had sexual relations with her best friend’s underage son — and still, no arrests, no charges, no answers.

Ebony Nicolle Robinson is accused of inappropriate relations with a minor, with alleged text messages cited as evidence in an ongoing investigation.

According to text messages obtained by The North Carolina Beat, Robinson is accused of engaging in an inappropriate sexual relationship with Carolyn Towanda Bynum’s son, allegedly beginning when the boy was just 15 years old and continuing.

Yet here we are, nearly half a year later, and the Sheriff’s Office appears to be doing nothing — despite damning digital evidence.

TEXTS DON’T LIE… OR DO THEY?

In text messages between Robinson and Bynum, Robinson allegedly admits to sleeping with the teen, claiming it only happened “two times.”

“I mean if u want to turn me in I understand. I wouldn’t even link with u cause I’m wrong…,” Robinson allegedly texted Bynum.

Bynum, clearly torn, allegedly told Robinson she could either meet up with her — or be turned in to police.

VIDEO, TEXTS… STILL NO ACTION?

Back in October, The North Carolina Beat became aware of a video showing Robinson and Bynum linking back up — despite the serious nature of the allegations involving Bynum’s child.

A video shows Ebony Robinson and Towanda Bynum linking up months after explosive allegations involving Bynum’s underage son surfaced.

On top of that, we obtained additional alleged text messages between Robinson and the teen. They were sent to us as a screen record video and we did our best screenshotting them for you.

The messages are deeply disturbing, and instead of paraphrasing them, we’ll allow the public to see them for themselves.

SHERIFF BLOCKS RECORDS, BLAMES THE MESSENGER

Seeking transparency, The North Carolina Beat attempted to submit a North Carolina Public Records Request to the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office for public records related to the incident but Wilson County Sheriff’s Office does not provide a legally compliant method for the public to submit records requests — a serious issue in itself.

After we publicly called this out, Sheriff Calvin Woodard responded not with answers — but accusations.

Sheriff Woodard faces criticism over a lack of transparency and action months into an investigation involving alleged misconduct and a minor.

Instead of addressing the investigation, the sheriff suggested we were trying to get “a dime” out of him and brushed off the public’s concern.

Let’s be real.

If the accused were a man, many are asking whether this case would already be wrapped up — with handcuffs and a mugshot.

Instead, the public is left watching a sheriff’s office that appears more interested in deflecting criticism than delivering justice.

Below, you can also watch the video of Ebony Robinson and Towanda Bynum linking back up, where their own words raise even more questions about what really happened — and why law enforcement seems content doing nothing.
